The Trivators came to bring Earth into the Alliance of Star Systems, but now they have to take control of Earth to prevent the humans from destroying it in the panicked chaos. The Trivators aren’t prepared for how humans will affect their own lives, though, starting with a family of three sisters….

Alone in a world gone mad with just her younger sisters, Jesse Sampson has learned to use the darkness and the remains of Seattle to keep what is left of her family alive. She has seen the savage side of human nature and found they are not much different from the aliens who conquered the Earth.

Hunter belongs to a unit of Trivators who specialize in quelling violent uprisings. His ability to track and capture is renowned, but he finds the tables turned when he is the one captured by a group of ruthless humans.

Hunter is shocked when a strange human female risks her life to help him escape, only to disappear into the ruins of the city. He now has a new mission finding the female who saved his life.

Okay, sign me up. Not for the alien invasion, if you can really call it an invasion. More like we sent out a, “Is anyone out there?”, message to the universe, and when it was answered, with an alliance offered. Did we take the consider it. Nope. A large portion of the population promptly panicked, rioted, and generally gave into the worse side of ourselves. (You know the kind. Major Earthquake – let’s rob a store and get a monster TV, so we can lug it around, while we’re trying to save ourselves later.) It’s a wonder the “aliens” didn’t leave us to our own self destruction.

In the midst of this panic driven mess you have those just trying to survive. Not willing to trust the Trivators (the aliens who were trying to keep the natives of earth from harming themselves and others out of fear and greed.) Jesse and her sisters, Jordan and Taylor continue to hide, and survive using their wits. But there are always more things that can go wrong than right it seems.

I’m not going to spoil it for you by telling all the juicy details. But I will tell you that because Jesse saves Hunter’s life. A hunky Trivator who had been captured by some extremely nasty people, with plans to dissect him. She gains his protection, whether she wants it or not.

That’s when all the fun really starts. If you ask me, the interaction between not only Jesse and Hunter, but also Jordan, Dagger, Saber, and the mischievous Taylor is so dynamic they come to life and burrow into your heart.

S.E. Smith has done an amazing job at setting the stage for this wonderful new series. The story reads well, with just the right amount of tension to keep you turning the pages. (Believe me. I was up till the wee hours of the morning.) A definite must read. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series ASAP.

Hunter Claim Science Fiction Romance The Alliance Book 1 edition by SE Smith Romance eBooks Reviews

This is the first book I’ve read by S.E. Smith and I wasn’t sure what to expect when I purchased it, but I liked the sample. To my relief this book turned out to be a happy purchase.

I liked the hero, heroine, her sister’s, the hero’s mates and his family. They were loyal, caring and had great courage. The characterization was well done and engaging, with humorous and entertaining actions and dialogue, interspaced with some of the more serious scenes. The world building on earth was excellent. There wasn’t as much world building on the alien planet, but that could be because this book is part of a continuing series.

Although part of a series, this was a standalone book—no cliffhanger here, thank goodness. I loathe cliffhangers. This author knew the right way to end a book in a series. There was a clear ending to the immediate storyline with a segue into the next book in a slightly overarching storyline. The reader could choose to stop with this book or continue on to the next, without a sense of frustration at being left hanging.

There was one minor error that I noticed. Early in their relationship, the heroine told the hero how her mother died. Later in the book, the hero asks how her mother died and she tells him, with no indication that she had already told him. Otherwise, writing mechanics were great and no other problems were noted.

This was a nice, light beach type read, not a heavy urban fiction book. There were some slightly graphic sex scenes, so those who find that objectionable should avoid this book. I found this book to be entertaining and it held my interest. I recommend it.
Jesse & Hunter's story is filled with lots of fighting, escaping, rescuing, sexy hot aliens, some sex scenes & a very good plot. Jesse & her sisters, Jordan & Taylor are on Earth (dystopian Earth) after being invaded by aliens both good & bad there's a lot of fighting between the humans themselves (as there is in this day & age). Hunter is a good alien that winds up being captured by some bad humans who want to experiment on him & then kill him. Jesse while out get food & other supplies for her & her sisters finds Hunter & helps him escape but not without her hurt herself. Hunter, Dagger & Saber his friends/brothers help him find Jesse as he was immediately attracted to her when she helped him escape; they follow her blood trail & finally find where her & her sisters have been hiding & rescues them. That is the 1st of many times they rescue each other. This book was excellent even though there wasn't really a good vs bad element; I just hope that this series (as I know there is a book 2) doesn't end until finished like some of the other series that have come before this one just end unfinished & leave me hanging.
It's a decent book, but again, the author mixes up her characters. For example, she'll say one sister's name when she meant to use another's. This is a constant with this author and it makes me wonder if her editors read or just spell check her work? There were a few other minor grammar errors, but nothing that pulls you out of the story like the wrong name.

All in all it's a good book for the genre. It's about 50-100 pages too long for what it is, and why all the heroines always run away in the middle of the book and make the hero's chase them, is a trope I will never understand. Don't expect much, but much, much, much better writing than Cassandra, her earlier book. Beware, book two is not the continuation of Jordan's story, that is book three, and the characters in book 2 make an appearance in book 3.

Not as hot as you'd want, or as good a story as you want, but it meshes heat with story to make it worth the purchase price. The sister's obviously care about each other, and if you suspend believe a little Hunter might actually want a human woman for an Amate...though once you understand his back story that because really flimsy. If you don't love this book though, don't buy the rest. Jordan's story (book 3) is worthless until 50% of the way through the book--trust me, my Reader literally said 50% of the way through the book before Jordan and Dagger are alone together.

I've tried 4 of SE Smith's books now, and I won't be buying another, but obviously people like her work, so if you have the coin, give it a shot, just know all of her books basically read the same.
